My debut album, Dark Angel, charts the course of a soul in search of peace, a mind in pursuit of enlightenment, and a being intent on a passionate and richly sensual life. I sing of “spiritual winters” that “turn lead into gold” (“Dark Angel”), of crucible experiences that break you but “in all the right places” such that you emerge “better than before” (“Broken”). An idealist, I present a utopian vision for a peaceful humanity – a universe of plenty where “no one is need, and beauty isn’t physical, it’s in the way you think” (“Secret Place”).

The title track to this album, “Dark Angel,” was released to radio in March 2016. It has aired on CBC and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. You can listen to the album below and through most streaming services including Spotify. You can hear all of my recordings (including those for Dark Angel) on Soundcloud. Individual songs are available for purchase through iTunes, and the album is for sale through CD Baby and Amazon. My videos are available on Youtube.

It is a pleasure to thank my friends and family for their love and encouragement, and my musical collaborators for their generous contribution to the project. This album would not exist if not for the dedicated guidance and passionate expertise of Robert Sibony. I would like to thank James Meier for making 01 System Studio consistently available to us throughout our recording period. To Roger St.-Denis, I remain indebted for the memorable use of his hauntingly beautiful Bösendorfer. I am grateful to David Hixon for his breathtaking photography and graphic art, which I had the privilege to include on the cover of this album. I owe a special thanks to Joe Prodan, my partner in love and life, for his support of this project, and of my creative path generally.

Lyrics

  1. What’s It All For?

You come, you go, like the wind

I feel both empty and full within

I’ve been down this road before

Picking my clothes up off your floor

Swearing, once again, never more

What’s it all for?

What’s it all for?

I leave, tiptoe out the door

Heading home, at the dawn of a new day

I rinse away the night

Fighting the memory with all my might

Swearing, once again, never more

What’s it all for?

What’s it all for?

Connections make for heartache

When love don’t reach your heart

It’s over before it starts

What’s it all for?

What’s it all for?

This time a truth sets in

Keep it up, in love how can I win,

When cravings that beg for more

Knocking at midnight upon my door?

Swear, once last time, never more

What’s it all for?

What’s it all for?

  1. All and None

When I’m lost and I can’t see

The forest for the trees

I stop and breathe and ask: fight or flee?

And the answer is always up to me

All and none

All and none

Why be a slave to everyone?

In truth, you answer but to one

Leave me, I won’t plead

Pierce me, I won’t bleed

I’ve made my peace

What will be will be

I trust in me

All and none

All and none

Why be a slave to everyone?

In truth, you answer but to one

When I’m on my knees

It’s not to appease

Some earthly ruler

With a godless ring

I answer to another king

All and none

All and none

Why be a slave to everyone?

In truth, you answer but to one

  1. Broken

It’s around the corner

You can feel it now

A lot like winter

But worse somehow

Cold and jarring

But you’re not alone

A fire will warm you

When you’re frozen to the bone

First, there’ll be a storm

Outside forces, in your path

And you’ll be broken

In all the right places

Is this what grace is?

Lost at sunset

But you’re not alone

A light in the darkness

Guides you home

When you get there

you’ll see how much you’ve grown

First, there’ll be a storm

Outside forces, in your path

And you’ll be broken

In all the right places

Is this what grace is?

Broken, and better than before

Open to so much more

Broken, and better than before

Open to so much more

Broken, and better than before

Open to so much more

  1. Dark Angel

Dark angel sleep

Lost inside a dream

Holding on

For the dawn

Dark angel, think:

What brought you to this brink?

Did all your choices?

Lead to this scene?

Ice in your heart

Snow in your soul

Spiritual winters

Create the worst cold

You want to break free

You’re frozen in fear

Reaching for something

That’s no longer here

Dark angel, breathe

You’re stronger than you know

Seek the truth

You’ll find your way through

Dark angel, feel

So you can finally heal

Let it go

Sun follow snow

Ice in your heart

Snow in your soul

Spiritual winters

Create the worst cold

You want to break free

You’re frozen in fear

Reaching for something

That’s no longer real

Dark Angel hope

You are all I see

I pray for your reprieve

Please believe

You will break free

The fear will melt

You’ll reach for new

And see it’s in view

Go with love in your heart

And light in your soul

’Cause spiritual winters

Turn lead into gold

Turn lead into gold

  1. Source Divine

I had traveled far to find you

From galaxies beyond

Through danger, illusion

With this longing in my heart

In your arms, I found

A twin soul, a lover

A new friend, so old I

Would long for no other

A dream shared

A need to surrender

To the path of love

New life did begin

Arose from within

Renewed us

Life, choosing new life

Remembered its source divine

Source divine

Source divine

All mine, divine

But our honeymoon would end

The stars were not aligned

With one last kiss we parted

In remembrance and regret

A dream shared

A need to surrender

To the path of love

New life did begin

Arose from within

Renewed us

Life, choosing new life

Remembered its source divine

Source divine

Source divine

For all time

Divine

  1. Secret Place

There’s a secret place I go to

When all the world’s asleep

A kaleidoscope reality

Of ever-shifting scenes

Seashells, now cornucopias

No one is in need

And beauty isn’t physical

It’s in the way you think

When I’m staring down the crossroads

Of overwhelm and calm

This is my still point

Where life and I meet

Peace

Serenity

For you and me

Floating free

A full spectrum universe

Of different frequencies

Colours are richer

For their diversity

We exist as thought-forms

Plain for all to read

Ever-changing entities

Entwined and yet distinct

When I’m staring down the crossroads

Of overwhelm and calm

This is my still point

Where life and I meet

Peace

Serenity

For you and me

Floating free

There’s a secret place I go to

When all the world’s asleep –

Blind with eyes wide open

To all that lies beneath

It’s not an illusion

For those who dare to dream

Of a world of truth and love

Where all is energy

When I’m staring down the crossroads

Of overwhelm and calm

This is my still point

Where life and I meet

Peace

Serenity

For you and me

Floating free

  1. Come to me

They had met before

Years ago, at a tender age

For a purpose ill defined

He would fall in love

She would not return his gaze

He turned it deep within

Come to me

You’re all I see

I’d give it all

To fall from grace

She would fade away

That he might know a brighter day

Behold the sight of God

Come to me

You’re all I see

I’d give it all

To fall from grace

They would say goodbye

She would die to save his soul

Deliver him beyond

Come to me

You’re all I see

I’d give it all

To fall from grace

Come to me

You’re all I see

  1. Loving Touch

Alone by a candle, still in the dark

Revealed, she trembles, a tree without bark

Naked beside one so veiled and disguised

Deceit, devastation side by side

An emotional soul in a spiritual cage

A clairvoyant blind to sins of a darker age

Ravaged by reason, she accepts defeat

Spirit takes over as her senses retreat

Loving touch

You hurt so much

Loving touch

A sphinx unrisen, alone she rides

Down the hall of history to her maker and scribe

To answer quandaries deep in her soul

Beg for restitution for all he stole

The labyrinth of her mind

Can no longer hide

The simple truth

Of her secret bind

Loving touch

You reveal so much

Loving touch

In the flicker and flash of half a breath

Suspended, she is, between life and death

An icy finger dispels the night air

Distilling her conscience, decanting with care

Left of centre and the eye of the storm

Blinded by chaos, enlightened by form

As at last she spies with her inner-eye

Self-betrayal – the only honest lie

Loving touch

You hurt so much

Loving touch

Loving touch

You reveal so much

Loving touch

Loving touch

You hurt so much

Loving touch
